Privacy Policy for Motly

Last updated: July 2026

Motly is a vehicle ownership and maintenance tracking app designed with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains how your data is handled.

NO APP DATA COLLECTION

Motly itself does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. The app operates entirely offline and has no servers, no accounts, and no third-party analytics or tracking of any kind.

YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE

All information you enter in Motly — including vehicles, maintenance records, fuel entries, documents, photos, and reminders — is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share it.

SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PAYMENTS

Motly Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Motly does not receive or store your payment details. Subscription status is checked on-device using Apple's StoreKit framework.

DOCUMENTS AND PHOTOS

Documents and photos you import or scan within Motly are stored in the app's private sandbox on your device. They are included in your standard iOS device backup (iTunes or iCloud Backup) if you have backups enabled.

NOTIFICATIONS

Motly uses iOS local notifications to remind you of upcoming maintenance and renewals. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and are never transmitted anywhere.

CAMERA AND PHOTO LIBRARY

Motly requests access to your camera to scan documents and to your photo library to import vehicle photos and documents. This access is used solely within the app and no images are transmitted externally.

FUTURE ICLOUD SYNC

A future version of Motly may offer optional iCloud sync. If implemented, your data would be stored in your personal iCloud account, governed by Apple's own privacy policy (apple.com/privacy). This feature will always be opt-in.

DATA EXPORT

Motly allows you to export your data as a JSON file at any time from Settings. This file stays on your device until you explicitly choose to share it.
